A new strategy for Slussgården

Slussgården has developed a new strategy and new business plans. In order to achieve success, they enlisted the help of CANEA.

The result: A more distinct organisation where the management team and the board have a common understanding of how the business should be run. "Our main guiding principles have been broken down into more concrete goals than before, and we have a clear plan for what they mean and how we will achieve them," says Karina Lööw, business developer at Slussgården, which is owned by SKR, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions. They delivers property ownership and management as well as services in conference and office-related services. When it was time to update the strategy, they wanted help in building a new strategy with clearer guidance on how to run the business, clearer goals and consensus between the management team and the board. karina_loow
- For us, it is important that the management team and the board take ownership over the strategy and develop it themselves, since it affects their ability to understand the strategy and execute it fully. However, we did help with creating a structure for the process of developing the strategy, raising the skills of everyone involved, driving the process forward and engaging through questions and challenges. One way we did this was by holding workshops and training," says Kennet Larsson, senior consultant at CANEA.

New strategy using
exercises and experienced consultants

CANEA's consultants started the work by conducting individual interviews and then pushed ahead with the work and structured the project.
- It has been a great advantage to have an independent facilitator to help keep the tone of the conversation democratic and ensure that we work in a structured way. Practical exercises, both in groups and individually, helped the Board and the management team to arrive at a shared vision. An additional benefit for us has been to have access to an experienced consultant who can compare with other businesses and how they have worked out strategies and business plans. CANEA's consultants are very pleasant people to work with. It has been easy and nice, and they had a good understanding of the different roles in our organisation", says Karina.

Ready for the future with new concrete goals and a clear roadmap

For Slussgården, the consulting work has meant that the management team and board have worked out a strategy and vision for the future with a clear direction and new goals as clear guides.
- We have worked on the strategy and developed business plans that have been approved and will now be implemented throughout the organization. We can now focus on packaging our services in a customized and needs-based way for our clients. The management team and the Board have a common understanding of how the business should be run going forward. Our main guiding principles have been broken down into smaller and more concrete objectives than before, and we have a clear plan of what they mean and how we will achieve them," Karina concludes.
