Incident Management
Incident management - the professional solution for reporting and managing incidents and accidents!
The essence of systematic occupational health and safety work is to investigate, remedy and follow up the business in such a way that risks, illness and accidents at work are prevented. A satisfying work environment should be achieved. Occupational health and safety work involves regularly investigating working conditions, assessing the risks of illness and accident at work, and observing what improvements are required.
The employer is responsible for occupational health and safety work, but it is important that there is collaboration between the employer and the employees, regarding, for example regular investigation of risks and reporting, registering and analysing incidents. It then becomes easier to take measures before an accident occurs.
The business case for incident management
A solution for incident management creates benefits in several ways:
- increased reporting of risks, incidents and accidents leads to better understanding of the connection between events and causes, more elements of risk can be remedied and effective preventative measures can be implemented with the aim of avoiding similar events in the future.
- reduced costs for management of incidents through simpler reporting, automatic work flows and data analysis.
- fulfilling legal requirements and standards such as the Swedish Work Environment Act (AML), the Swedish Work Environment Ordinance, the Swedish Occupational Injury Insurance Act (LAF), the Swedish Law on the Prevention of Accidents (LSO) and ISO 14001.
- reduces the hidden statistics that are often present regarding risks and incidents, by facilitating reporting for all employees.
Occupational injury reporting
According to the Swedish Occupational Injury Insurance Act (LAF), following personal injury of an employee, the employer is responsible for sending an immediate report to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) on a specific form. According to section 2 of the Swedish Work Environment Ordinance, in more serious cases, the employer should immediately inform the Swedish Work Environment Authority in addition to sending the report to the Social Insurance Agency. This applies to death or serious personal injury or when several employees have simultaneously been affected by occupational injuries. Incidents that resulted in serious danger to life or health are also included.
Use areas
A solution for incident management can be divided into three application areas:
- Risk - a condition that can lead to personal injury.
- Incident - an event that can lead to personal injury.
- Accident - an actual personal injury.
